National Employment Program Achieves Significant Milestones in Jordan

Amman:The Ministry of Labor has announced that 2,778 families have been removed from the National Aid Fund's financial assistance rolls, as sustainable job opportunities were provided to their members through the National Employment Program since mid-2022.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry's spokesperson, Mohammad Zyoud, stated that the program has continued to achieve significant results in increasing labor market participation among targeted groups. A total of 61,580 subsidized employment contracts have been concluded, with women securing 31,565 of these positions, which accounts for 51.2% and highlights the program's focus on women's economic empowerment.

Zyoud provided a breakdown of beneficiaries by region, noting that in the Northern Region, 21,302 individuals and 597 companies benefited from the program. The Central Region saw 34,462 individuals and 985 companies take advantage of the opportunities, while in the Southern Region, 5,816 individuals and 289 companies were beneficiaries.

The total number of establishments registered with the program has increased to 3,766, covering a variety of economic sectors and activities. Zyoud also mentioned that 53,190 employees received job-related skills training, and another 11,527 were trained in workplace skills and occupational health and safety, in collaboration with the Vocational Training Corporation. These efforts are aimed at enhancing employment sustainability and workforce development.

To promote the program's services and strengthen sectoral networking, six introductory activities and meetings were conducted last July across most of the Kingdom's governorates. These initiatives were intended to expand partnerships, improve youth readiness for the labor market, and introduce them to available opportunities and career paths.
