Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa has honored the winners of the Global Elite Competition of the Ten Recitations during a ceremony organized by MWL under the title “Elite Competition for the 10 Quran Recitations” in Nairobi, Kenya.
The competition, the first of its kind in the world, has as objective promoting the ten recitations of the Quran. Participants compete in two categories: major 10 recitations and minor 10 recitations.
Al-Issa said that MWL ‘is one of the virtuous contributions from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Islamic world’, noting that the league is honored to serve the Quran and the Sunnah.
In fulfilling this honor, MWL takes on the significant responsibility of education and guidance, which the Quran was revealed for, to encourage contemplation and adherence to the Quranic teachings.
Through this competition, MWL achieves several objectives, the most important of which are: introducing the
Quran recitations, encouraging experts memorizing the Quran to study the science of Quran recitations, fostering a spirit of fair competition among them, motivating, honoring, and caring for them, promoting their adherence to the morals of the Quran and its noble guidance, and preparing a capable and distinguished generation of expert Quran memorizers.
Attending the event were Quran memorization experts accredited in the 10 recitations from around the world and prominent African scholars.
