Karak:Amman Secretary-General of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Ismail Al-Khatba, stated on Sunday that the recent terrorist attack targeting the Hmoud Church in Karak Governorate has shocked all Jordanians and represents an assault on societal security, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Khatba emphasized the deeply rooted relationship between Muslims and Christians in Jordan, asserting that such acts will not weaken the awareness, unity, and cohesion of Jordanian society.
Al-Khatba highlighted the collective national responsibility to maintain security and stability, expressing full confidence in the security services' efforts to combat terrorism and apprehend the perpetrators. He stressed the importance of rejecting extremism, intolerance, hate speech, and incitement, as these elements threaten social peace.
Furthermore, Al-Khatba affirmed that attacking places of worship and taking innocent lives violate Islamic Sharia teachings and breach religious, human, and national values.
He noted that the ministry continues to counter extremist ideology by promoting a religious discourse grounded in moderation, compassion, and respect for others, in line with Islamic principles and the values of the Amman Message.
The official concluded by stating that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, remains committed to safeguarding its security and stability, with public cohesion serving as a primary pillar in defeating attempts to undermine national unity.
