Amman: Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Bader Harahsheh, on Monday stressed the strength and importance of relations between Jordan and Germany, commending close bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, welcoming a delegation of German students from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation – Jordan Office, Harahsheh reiterated His Majesty King Abdullah’s commitment to disability matters, which he underscored at the Berlin Global Disability Summit. Addressing the rights of persons with disabilities is a national priority in Jordan, he pointed out.
The MP also commended Berlin’s support of Jordan’s development and service sectors, and highlighted Jordan’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through various channels. He reiterated the Kingdom’s unwavering stance against the displacement of Palestinians, reaffirming that the Kingdom will not be an alternative homeland for them.
Lawmakers Ibrahim Tarawneh, Bakr Haisa, and Atallah Hunaiti voiced support of Jordan’s official positions at the local and international levels, urging Germany to continue supporting the Kingdom, which hosts a sizeable number of refugees. They also spoke about political party legislation to enhance democracy and referred to laws supporting persons with disabilities, including employment in public institutions.
The student team applauded Jordan’s party-based political experience as they engaged in a discussion with the MPs.
