Amman: Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi and a European Parliament team on Monday called for urgent international action to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, reinstate the ceasefire, and allow relief aid into the Strip. The appeal highlights the critical need for coordinated global efforts to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation comprised European Parliament member and Rapporteur for Jordan in the European Parliament, Malek Azmani, along with political advisors Adam Jansen and Charlotte van de Pol. Both parties emphasized the urgency of ending the conflict and advancing a political process based on the two-state solution. They underscored the importance of the partnership between Jordan and the European Union in fostering regional peace and stability.
Speaker Safadi also highlighted Jordan’s ongoing modernization efforts, noting the Kingdom’s significant strides in expanding popular participation through the empowerment of women and youth. He praised His Majesty King Abdullah as a beacon of moderation and wisdom, whose advocacy for dialogue and peaceful resolution of crises is well-respected by the international community.
In his remarks, Safadi expressed gratitude to the EU and the European Parliament for their continued support of Jordan. The European Parliamentarians, in turn, reiterated their commitment to supporting Jordan as a “reliable strategic partner and a model for promoting regional stability and security.”
