Ministry Hosts Workshop to Bolster Early Grade Education in Jordan.

Amman: The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Early Grade Education Activity (ASAS), held a national dialogue workshop on Monday to advance early grade education in Jordan. Opening the event, Mohammad Momani, Director of the Educational Supervision and Training Department at the Ministry, highlighted the significant strides in early education in Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, Momani emphasized the government’s dedication to improving the quality of education and enhancing learning outcomes for young students, describing early education as fundamental to children’s academic success, mental development, and future opportunities. He noted the Ministry’s efforts to address disparities in access to quality education. These efforts include expanding kindergarten availability, enhancing teacher training programs, focusing on literacy and numeracy, and utilizing digital technology to enrich the learning experience. These i
nitiatives aim to ensure all students, particularly in underserved areas, benefit from high-quality education.

Shannon Stone, Director of the Education and Youth Office at USAID Jordan, underscored the importance of early childhood education. She remarked that literacy and numeracy skills serve as gateways to broader understanding, problem-solving, and effective communication. Stone also emphasized the value of the partnership between USAID and the Ministry of Education in improving education for young learners in Jordan.

Participants stressed the need for continued collaboration between policymakers and educators to ensure data-driven decisions and the successful implementation of policies aimed at enhancing educational outcomes for early grade students in Jordan.
