ESC Economic Committee Debates Priorities for Next Period

Amman: The Economic and Social Council of Jordan's (ESC) Economic Committee convened on Monday to deliberate on priorities for the upcoming phase, focusing on current economic challenges and opportunities.

According to Jordan News Agency, the committee emphasized key priorities, which included an in-depth exploration of the tourism and industrial sectors. Additionally, the committee considered the geopolitical challenges and their ramifications for the transport and logistics sectors, aiming to bolster the national economy's resilience against potential economic shocks.

The meeting, led by the committee's head, Jamal Rifai, also addressed issues related to energy and water costs and their influence on production expenses. Furthermore, the session reviewed international trade agreements and their effects on the national economy and various productive sectors.

The agenda also included the establishment of specialized working groups for each priority sector. These groups are tasked with conducting comprehensive studies on the issues, pinpointing significant challenges and opportunities, and formulating practical recommendations for the forthcoming period.

The committee underscored the importance of sector teams adopting a practical and participatory strategy to enhance the council's capability to provide insightful recommendations. This approach aims to support economic sectors and augment the competitiveness of the national economy and its resilience.
