Medical Team Honored for Successful Surgery to Reattach Child’s Severed Limb

Amman: Health Minister Ibrahim Bdour honored a medical team at Al-Bashir Hospital for a significant medical achievement involving the surgical replantation of a severed limb of a 14-year-old girl who suffered a severe injury from a mechanical pump belt.

According to Jordan News Agency, the minister praised the successful complex microsurgical procedure in which the completely severed limb was reattached to the body. He highlighted the “tremendous and distinguished efforts” by the medical and nursing staff, noting that the achievement reflects the advanced level of surgical services available in the ministry’s hospitals, particularly in microvascular surgery.

The ceremony recognized contributions from medical staff, including Vascular Surgery Specialists Dr. Omar Al-Zoubi and Dr. Ali Dnaibat, Orthopedic Specialist Dr. Jasser Younis, Anesthesiologist Dr. Ahmed Bani Hamad, and Operations Nurse Ayser Al-Harayzeh.

“This teamwork reflects the ability of Al-Bashir Hospital staff to handle complex surgeries with precision and high efficiency,” commented the minister. He pledged the ministry’s continued support for medical competencies and the development of capacities to provide the best service to the public.

The minister also emphasized the distinguished reputation of Jordan’s medical facilities, both public and private, which have positioned the Kingdom as a key regional destination for medical tourism, thanks to its medical competencies and advanced health system.

He further mentioned the establishment of a Specialized Surgery Center about four years ago, which has enabled medical staff to perform microsurgical and complex interventions, particularly in vascular and peripheral artery surgery. The facility represents “a qualitative leap” in surgical services, contributing to improved outcomes and increasing the capacity of Al-Bashir Hospital.

For his part, Al Bashir Hospital Director Ali Al-Abdallat expressed pride in “this medical achievement, which adds to the hospital’s successes and enhances its role as an advanced medical reference center in the Kingdom.”
