Ramallah: The “Media and the Palestinian Cause in Light of Digital Transformation” conference commenced in Ramallah, organized by Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie. The event, entitled Reality and Future Forecasts, was inaugurated with the participation of notable figures who emphasized the role of media in the Palestinian struggle.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Minister Ahmed Assaf, the general supervisor of official media, highlighted the significant role Palestinian media has played in revealing the occupation’s crimes. He pointed out that Israel’s inability to hide the truth has led to the tragic deaths of 230 journalists, along with numerous injuries and arrests, as part of ongoing efforts to silence the truth. Assaf stressed the need for global solidarity to support Palestinian voices and expressed optimism that the truth would eventually triumph over efforts to suppress it.
Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor Laila Ghanem reaffirmed the authenticity of the Palestinian narrative, expressing a commitment to exposing the genocide occurring in southern and northern governorates. She praised Palestinian security forces for their resilience amid aggressive actions by settlers and the occupation army.
Representing the Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Higher Education Amjad Barham conveyed the Prime Minister’s support for the conference. He underscored the pivotal role of media in amplifying the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of the destruction caused by the occupation in the Gaza Strip, affecting educational institutions and future hope for Palestinians.
Walaa Al-Battat, the academic and researcher chairing the conference, emphasized the transformative impact of digital media on the Palestinian narrative. She highlighted the conference’s global approach, inviting experts from Arab and Western countries to engage in discussions on the role of media in shaping public opinion.
The conference featured multiple sessions. The first session, focusing on the Palestinian narrative in media, included contributions from various experts discussing the promotion of Palestinian perspectives through media channels. Subsequent sessions addressed the influence of digital media on global public opinion, challenges faced by Palestinian journalists, and the coverage of the Palestinian issue in international media.
Scientific sessions also explored the integration of artificial intelligence in media, analyzing its impact on public relations, media education, and journalism. Participants discussed the role of social media platforms in shaping public opinion and the challenges of using AI technologies in media institutions.
Overall, the conference served as a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas, reinforcing the Palestinian narrative amid the challenges posed by digital transformation and ongoing occupation.
