Abbas Urges Hamas To Hand Over Weapons To Palestinian Authority

Amman: Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, has urged Hamas to relinquish their weapons to the Palestinian Authority (PA). During a meeting in the Jordanian capital with former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, Abbas declared that Hamas will not have control over Gaza in the post-war era.

According to Nam News Network, Abbas emphasized that the only viable solution for the Gaza Strip involves Israel’s complete withdrawal from the area and the empowerment of the State of Palestine to take on its responsibilities, backed by both Arab and international support. He advocated for the initiation of a political process aimed at implementing the two-state solution, grounded in international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Abbas proposed the organization of an international peace conference in New York to further this objective, aiming to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
