Lower House names panel to reply to King’s speech from the throne

The Lower House’s Permanent Office Tuesday named a 40-member committee that will draft the reply to the speech from the throne, which His Majesty King Abdullah delivered at the opening of Parliament’s ordinary session yesterday.

The House asked the permanent office to select members of the panel before the reply is endorsed by the full House and passed to His Majesty within 14 days of the inauguration of the ordinary session.

House Speaker Abdul Karim Doghmi thanked the King for the opening speech, noting that pending national action awaits the legislature along the path of comprehensive reforms. He said the House will deal with the points emphasised by the King in the speech to uplift performance and meet the aspirations of the people.

During its first session, the permanent office set the priorities in the coming period.
