Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Krishan stressed the importance of the local councils in serving the community and cementing the sustainable development.
Krishan made his remarks, on Thursday at the Prime Ministry, during his meeting with heads of the local councils, voicing the government’s keenness to ensure the success of the councils’ experiment.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Acting Secretary-General, Nidal Abu Orabi Al-Adwan, Krishan called for cooperation and coordination between local and municipal councils to serve society and citizens alike, by finding development and production projects in cooperation with the private sector to ensure sustainable development and achieve the desired goals.
He pointed out that a joint secretariat aiming at ensuring the continuity of the councils’ work, will be established between the Ministry of Local Administration and the Ministry of Interior.
Krishan was briefed on the councils’ needs and future plans during the meeting.
