The Kingdom’s trade balance deficit increased during the first eight months of 2021 by 27.9 percent, to reach JD5.37 billion, compared with the same period in 2020 that stood at JD4.199 billion, the Department of Statistics’ (DoS) announced Monday.
According to a DoS report on foreign trade in Jordan, the volume of total exports in the January-August period of 2021 increased by 13.7 percent, to reach JD4,127 billion, compared with the same period of 2020.
National exports in the first eight months of 2021 also increased by 15.9 per cent to reach JD3.745 billion, compared with the same period of last year.
The report also revealed that re-exports stood at JD381.8 million in the first 8 months of 2021, marking a 4.3 percent drop, compared with the same period of 2020.
Jordan’s imports in the January-August period of 2021 rose by 21.3 percent, to reach JD9.497 billion, compared with JD7.830 billion in the same period of last year, the DoS’s figures showed.
