Kingdom sees 16 Covid-19 deaths, 6,296 cases Sunday

The Ministry of Health said on Sunday that 16 coronavirus deaths and 6,296 cases were recorded in the Kingdom, raising the pandemic’s death toll to 13,814 and the caseload to 1,623,474.

The positivity rate of about 35,040 PCR tests collected today was at 18.97 per cent, according to the ministry’s daily media brief, which also showed that currently active Covid-19 cases stood at 90,906, with 109 admitted to hospitals today, raising hospitalizations to 786. Some 115 cases left hospitals today.

On hospitals’ capacity countrywide, the ministry said the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 13%, intensive care beds 28% and respirators 10%.

In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 19%, ICU beds 34% and respirators 15%, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation wards was at 11%, ICU beds 19% and respirators 12%, according to the figures.

They also showed that 12,379 coronavirus patients have recovered, bringing the estimate number of total recoveries after the end of the isolation period to 1,518,754.

Daily vaccination figures released by the ministry also showed that 4,681,510 people have taken the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccines and the number of those who were double-jabbed climbed to 4,367,176.
