King Abdullah II Pledges Support for Gaza Rebuilding at Palestine Summit

Cairo: His Majesty King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to supporting the reconstruction of Gaza at the Extraordinary Arab Summit, known as the ‘Palestine Summit,’ hosted by Egypt. The king emphasized the importance of presenting the plan to active international partners to garner global backing, according to a statement from the royal court.

According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah delivered Jordan’s address at the summit, strongly opposing any efforts to displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza or annex their land, and condemned Israel’s decision to block humanitarian aid to Gaza. He highlighted the necessity of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring its implementation in all phases, while also calling for an end to the dangerous escalation in the West Bank.

During his speech, King Abdullah expressed gratitude to President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi for hosting the summit and to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his leadership. He reiterated Jordan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their quest for freedom and an independent, sovereign state based on the two-state solution.

The king outlined four main themes: rejecting any displacement or annexation attempts, supporting Palestinian National Authority reforms, halting escalation in the West Bank, and reaffirming the two-state solution as the path to peace. He stressed the need for urgent regional and international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing Jordan’s continued aid and relief efforts.

The Jordanian delegation at the summit included Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan’s Permanent Representative at the Arab League Amjad Adaileh.
