Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) concluded its participation in the annual 2023 Hajj and Umrah International Tourism Fair, which was held from August 7-9 in Indonesia, with the participation of representatives from the Jordanian embassy in Indonesia and Malaysia and a number of Jordanian travel and tourism agencies. According to a JTB statement issued Thursday, its general director, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, said the board established Jordanian pavilion as part of its participation in the fair. Stressing the event’s importance, Arabiyat said mechanisms of joint cooperation among travel and tourism agencies and hotels interested in religious tourism were discussed, which would contribute to increasing the number of tourists coming to various religious tourist destinations. In this regard, Arabiyat noted importance of highlighting Jordan’s religious sites in the programs targeting Indonesian tourists. On the sidelines of the JTB’s participation, Director-General for Indonesia Protocol and Consular Affairs/Chief of State Protocol, Andy Rachmianto, inaugurated the JTB-hosted ceremony, aimed to discuss ways joint cooperation between the two countries’ tourism agencies. The JTB also hosted a slew of workshops and meetings that brought together Jordanian and Malaysian tourism sectors. The JTB noted Indonesia and Malaysia are among the “top” tourism destinations, which are “less affected” by the political situation in the Middle East region, and are “large and promising” markets and a “huge” source of Islamic religious tourism. Jordan is one of the “key” tourism destinations that has tourist ingredients to receive visitors from Indonesia and Malaysia, the JTB said.
