JSMO Halts Sale of Locally Made Heaters Pending Test Results

Amman: The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) has announced the suspension of sales for heaters produced by three domestic manufacturers. This decision comes as technical tests are conducted by the Royal Scientific Society in response to incidents of suffocation and several deaths attributed to these products. The JSMO has also seized quantities of these heaters held by the factories.

According to Jordan News Agency, the JSMO, in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), has so far confiscated over 5,000 of these heaters and sent samples to the Royal Scientific Society for evaluation. These heaters, which have been present in the local market for years, are produced locally and not imported.

The organization emphasized that these products undergo strict regulatory procedures both before and after being introduced to the market to ensure public safety. It highlighted that there will be no tolerance for any violations of specifications.

Manufacturers and commercial outlets in possession of these heaters have been warned against selling them during this period. They face the risk of liability if they do not comply with the decisions issued by the authorities until the test results are available and any necessary measures are implemented.

Additionally, the organization advised citizens to refrain from using these heaters if they currently own them, pending the release of test results.
