Amman:The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) has announced the adoption of two significant international standards aimed at improving accessibility in information technology office equipment and educational organization management systems. This move is part of JSMO's broader initiative to create more inclusive environments and enhance service accessibility across various sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, Acting JSMO Director General Wafa Al-Momani highlighted the organization's dedication to aligning the national standardization system with international benchmarks. This effort is intended to improve accessibility, foster inclusion, and elevate the overall quality of services available to all segments of society.
Al-Momani explained that one of the adopted standards, JS ISO/IEC 107792026, is based on the international standard ISO/IEC 107792020. It provides guidelines for making office equipment more accessible to the elderly and persons with disabilities. This framework is designed to aid in the design, development, and evaluation of office equipment to ensure better usability and functional access.
Additionally, the second standard adopted, JS ISO 210012026, derives from ISO 210012025. This standard outlines requirements and usage guidelines for educational organization management systems. It aims to optimize management frameworks, improve educational quality, and accommodate the diverse needs of learners, including those with disabilities.
Al-Momani also mentioned that adopting these standards is in line with national initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering persons with disabilities. These efforts complement the work of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Jordan.
