JPMC, NARC team up for research on fertilizers

The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding to carry out research on the use and production of fertilizers as well as the recycling of fertilizer byproducts, such as phosphogypsum.

The agreement, inked by JPMC CEO Abdulwahab Al-Rowad, and NARC Director-General Nizar Haddad, also sets the ground for exchange of expertise and training.

Al-Rowad stressed that the company is committed to cooperating with leading national institutions in agricultural scientific research, especially research on fertilizers, the environment and climate change.

He added that the company is looking forward to more cooperation with the center, especially in the field of agricultural fertilizer research, to keep pace with the needs and requirements of local and international markets.

In turn, Haddad said that this memorandum will be a nucleus for modernization and development in specialized agricultural work by strengthening joint research cooperation between the two parties in the field of fertilizers.

He explained that the memorandum will contribute to the adoption of modern agricultural techniques that enable the optimal use of agricultural fertilizers and the use of scientific research outputs. He added that researchers and industrial cadres will be empowered through training and qualification.
