Amman: The Jordan Press Association (JPA) has issued a call for caution when engaging with content on social media and media outlets concerning ongoing military operations in the region. The organization emphasized the importance of relying on official statements from authorities, particularly regarding news about Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the JPA cautioned against the circulation of videos depicting old military actions or footage of debris falling in unrelated areas as current events. Such actions can lead to confusion and the spread of rumors, potentially destabilizing the country and attempting to draw Jordan into regional conflicts. The JPA's statement underscored the necessity of prioritizing national interests over journalistic scoops.
The association highlighted the commendable efforts of the government, the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces, and the Public Security Directorate in maintaining a steady flow of information. The JPA urged these bodies to ensure continuous and timely dissemination of information to help curb the spread of rumors and misinformation.
