Amman: Jordan’s trade exchange with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries since the beginning of this year until the end of last August reached JD3.8 billion, with Saudi Arabia leading the trade activities.
According to Jordan News Agency, statistical data from the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) indicate that Jordan’s exports during the same period to the GCC nations of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman amounted to JD1.2 billion, while imports totaled JD2.6 billion.
Saudi Arabia emerged as the top partner in trade exchange with Jordan, totaling JD2.3 billion. Of this, JD742 million accounted for exports, primarily in pharmaceutical preparations, while the bulk of imports consisted of oils and petroleum gases.
The statistics, based on official figures, reveal that the trade volume between Jordan and the United Arab Emirates during the same period reached JD823 million, with exports amounting to JD192 million. Gold, including platinum-plated gold, was the key export item, wherea
s other raw forms of non-monetary gold dominated the import list.
During the same period, trade between Jordan and Qatar reached JD93 million, with exports valued at JD74 million, mainly consisting of fresh and chilled vegetables. Medicines were the primary imports from Qatar, as per ACC figures.
The trade volume between Jordan and Kuwait amounted to JD134 million, with JD100 million in exports focused on fresh and chilled vegetables, while oxygen gas was the primary import from Kuwait.
Jordan’s trade with Oman during this period was approximately JD79 million, with JD50 million being Jordanian exports, primarily medicines, while anhydrous ammonia was the main import.
The statistics further revealed that the trade volume between Jordan and Bahrain totaled JD55 million, with national exports accounting for JD33 million, mainly fresh or chilled vegetables, while imports were concentrated in aluminum alloys.
