Amman: Exports of the Kingdom’s therapeutic industries sector achieved growth during the year 2024 by 9% to reach approximately JD809 million, constituting about 9% of total industrial exports, Dr. Fadi Atrash, Representative of Therapeutic Industries and Medical Supply Sector in Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), announced.
According to Jordan News Agency, Atrash highlighted the support from His Majesty King Abdullah towards Jordan’s pharmaceutical industry, emphasizing the King’s commitment to backing the sector’s companies and addressing any obstacles to maintain growth and align with global advancements. Atrash also praised His Majesty’s visit to the pharmaceutical company Dar Aldawa, known for manufacturing pharmaceutical preparations and healthcare products.
In remarks to “Petra,” Atrash mentioned that the King’s visit to Dar Aldawa underscores his ongoing dedication to the Kingdom’s pharmaceutical industries sector, which plays a crucial role in the Economic Modernization Vision and is recognized as a high-value industry. Atrash noted that the sector enjoys a significant added value of up to 55% of total production, with production valued at JD850 million.
He further explained that Jordan has numerous export opportunities in various industrial sectors, especially therapeutic industries and medical supplies, with exports estimated at more than JD515 million to multiple countries worldwide. Atrash emphasized that the advancements in Jordan’s pharmaceutical industries have led to a substantial increase in added value, now exceeding 51% of the sector’s total production.
These advancements have positively impacted the sector’s contribution to the national economy, accounting for about 3% of the Kingdom’s total GDP. Jordan’s pharmaceutical products are available in 85 export markets, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the United States, the Emirates, Algeria, and Yemen.
Atrash noted that the human pharmaceutical industry accounts for 85% of the total therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector in the Kingdom. This industry operates 27 facilities nationwide, with a registered capital of approximately JD280 million, providing employment for 10,000 individuals, 35% of whom are women.
