Jordan’s New Social Protection Strategy Aims for Crisis Readiness and Political Inclusion

Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa emphasized the crucial role of Jordan’s political parties in the political modernization project under Royal patronage. Her remarks were made during the inauguration of national consultations on the draft National Social Protection Strategy (2025-2033) with political party representatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, these consultations have also involved the media, private academic sectors, civil society institutions, and international partners. Additionally, Bani Mustafa highlighted efforts to engage representatives from local communities across the country to incorporate their perspectives into the strategy.

The minister underscored the importance of political parties in shaping the future of the social protection sector through 2033. This initiative aligns with Jordan’s broader political, economic, and administrative modernization visions initiated by His Majesty, aiming to build on past achievements.

Bani Mustafa outlined the strategy’s key areas: empowerment, dignity, and opportunity. She introduced a new “resilience” axis, designed to establish an early social warning system for prompt crisis response. The importance of this fourth axis lies in its potential to address crises effectively.

The meeting featured a video presentation on the strategy’s framework and an overview of Jordan’s social protection sector. Participants engaged in an extensive dialogue on the role of political parties in strengthening the national social protection system.
