Jordan’s Constitutional Court agrees to join AACC

The Constitutional Court of Jordan (CC) decided to join the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), to become the 20th member.

In a press statement on Sunday, the court, headed by Hisham al-Tal, president of the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils (UACCC), decided to take this decision as AACC brings under its umbrella member countries with “valuable” expertise in related fields, including Russia, Turkey, South Korea, Indonesia and Afghanistan.

Court member, Taghreed Hikmat, said Jordan’s membership aims to develop the CC’s work and exchange expertise with member states, lauding the AACC’s invitation to the Kingdom to join the association.

Established in 2010, the AACC aims to preserve human rights, implement the rule of law, and protect independence of constitutional courts.
