Jordanian Mobile Bakery Sole Bread Source in Gaza Amid Flour Shortage

Gaza: The Jordanian mobile bakery remains the only operational bakery in the Gaza Strip, providing bread to the local community and hospitals amid an acute flour shortage that has led to the shutdown of most bakeries, according to the World Central Kitchen team.

According to Jordan News Agency, the mobile bakery was dispatched to Gaza on December 24, 2024, under royal directives, with the aim of alleviating humanitarian suffering resulting from the ongoing war on Gaza. It operates in partnership with the World Central Kitchen, an international non-governmental organization that delivers meals and food assistance to those affected by conflicts and natural disasters.

The World Central Kitchen stated in a press release that the mobile bakery is currently operating in the central Gaza Strip, reiterating its commitment to supporting the people of Gaza during this critical period.

With a production capacity of approximately 3,500 loaves per hour and more than 75,000 loaves per day, the mobile bakery plays a vital role in addressing the food insecurity in the Strip.

The initiative is part of Jordan’s broader and ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to Gaza through all possible means, including land and air routes.
