Jordan records 11 COVID-19 fatalities, 840 new cases on Sunday-MoH

The Ministry of Health announced 11 Covid-19 fatalities and 840 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 9, 368 and the caseload to 730, 546.

The new infections comprised 383 cases in the capital, Amman, 127 in Irbid, including 3 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 82 in Zarqa, 47 in Mafraq, 40 in Karak, 35 in Ajloun, 29 in Balqa, 26 in Madaba, 24 in Jerash, 18 in Aqaba, 15 in Tafileh, and 14 Aqaba, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The statement added that there are currently 10, 570 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.

The number of hospitalizations today stood at 79, while 101 patients have recovered and discharged, the statement noted.

According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 1,022, bringing the total to 710,608 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 604.

The statement also indicated that occupancy of the ICU bed capacity has hit 25%, 26%, and 7%, in the northern, central, and southern regions, respectively.

With regard to testing, 22,060 tests were conducted Sunday, 3.81 percent of which were positive.

Since March, 2020, the total number of tests administered has increased to 7,118,897, the joint statement noted.
