Jordan records 10,085 new COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths

The Ministry of Health said Sunday that it recorded 25 coronavirus deaths and 10,085 cases, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 13,682 and the caseload to 1,570,907.

According to the ministry’s daily media brief, 20.72 percent of 48,680 PCR tests taken today came back positive, adding that currently active Covid-19 cases topped 164,392 with 163 admitted today to hospitals, raising hospitalizations to 1,081. Some 158 cases left hospitals today, it pointed out.

On hospitals’ capacity, the daily figures showed that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 22%, intensive care beds 43% and respirators 20%.

In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 26%, intensive care beds 41% and respirators 17%, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 14%, intensive care beds 19% and respirators 11%, it said.

It also said 18,872 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing total recoveries expected after the 14-day isolation period to 1,392,833.

On vaccinations, the ministry said that 4,661,173 people have taken the first dose of the coronavirus vaccines and 4,335,565 have been double-jabbed.
