Amman: The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Jordan has received 10 modern electric vehicles as a gift from the South Korean government. This initiative aims to enhance services at key tourist and archaeological sites across the country.
According to Jordan News Agency, the handover ceremony was held at the Department of Antiquities, where Secretary General of the Ministry, Fadi Balawi, and South Korean Ambassador, Kim Pil-woo, underscored the significance of this contribution in improving the visitor experience. Balawi highlighted that this gesture reflects the robust relationship between Jordan and South Korea and is instrumental in supporting the development of the tourism sector. The vehicles are expected to provide better accessibility for individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive environment at tourist sites.
Balawi also pointed out that these electric vehicles will enhance the accessibility and efficiency of visits, allowing tourists to
explore multiple sites in a single day. Jordan is known for its rich cultural and natural sites, and this initiative is part of broader cultural and tourism cooperation between the two nations, which includes active exchanges in heritage and culture.
Ambassador Kim emphasized that this initiative is a testament to the strong cooperation between Korea and Jordan in tourism and culture. He acknowledged Jordan’s appeal as a top destination for Korean visitors, citing iconic sites such as Petra, the Dead Sea, the Roman ruins at Amman Citadel, and the landscapes of Wadi Rum. He further mentioned that cultural exchange between the two countries is a cornerstone for fostering deeper bilateral ties and expressed confidence that this project will strengthen the friendship and partnership between Korea and Jordan.
The South Korean Ambassador concluded by expressing pride in his government’s contribution to making Jordan’s tourist sites more inclusive. He stated, “I firmly believe that today’s donation will enhance ac
cessibility and inclusivity at these destinations,” highlighting the shared commitment to ensuring that Jordan’s rich cultural heritage is accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical ability.
