Jordan participates in EastMed Gas Forum 7th ministerial meeting

Jordan participated in the seventh ministerial meeting of the East Mediterranean (EastMed) Gas Forum via video conference, held Wednesday in Cairo.

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the alternate president of the forum for 2022, Tarek El Molla, stressed the importance of the energy transition, and the forum’s adoption of a strategy to reduce emissions and expand the field of hydrogen production.

He pointed out that diversifying sources of energy production and securing their supplies, and all stakeholders’ cooperation in this field ensure achieving sustainability and economic growth, and then the well-being of the people.

The meeting discussed the second phase of the forum’s strategy and vision for the gas industry and increasing production, as well as initiatives to reduce emissions and decarbonize as it seeks to achieve an energy transition and sustainable growth.

High-level international attendees including ministers and heads of delegations of permanent member states from Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Italy, France, Palestine and Jordan, in addition to the United States, the European Union and the World Bank as observer members, the European Union Commissioner for Energy and Climate and the Secretary-General of the Forum Osama Mubarez, attended the meeting.
