Amman: Jordan's Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson, Mohammad Momani, announced on Wednesday that the country has successfully intercepted 255 Iranian missiles and drones targeting its territory. Momani highlighted the government's proactive measures to ensure the safety and stability of the Kingdom amidst ongoing regional tensions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan is actively engaging in daily follow-ups with various ministries, particularly those affecting daily life. The Prime Minister receives continuous reports on the readiness and impact across all sectors, demonstrating the government's commitment to maintaining stability. Momani explained that since the onset of the war, alternative plans have been activated through inter-ministerial coordination. These measures include expanding transport options through land crossings and coordinating with the Syrian side to potentially use the Port of Lattakia to ensure the continuous flow of goods.
Momani assured that the supply and economic situation in Jordan remains stable, with supply chains operating normally without interruptions. He confirmed that the strategic stock of basic and food commodities is secure, as shipments continue to arrive in the Kingdom. The energy sector is also stable, with sufficient stocks of petroleum products and ongoing fuel and gas shipments. Momani noted that the Port of Aqaba is functioning efficiently, attracting interest from regional entities as a reliable logistical hub.
In addressing economic concerns, Momani stated that global oil price spikes would not directly affect the upcoming domestic price schedule. Instead, adjustments will be gradual to maintain stability and ease the burden on citizens. He confirmed that there are no plans for electricity blackouts, as power supplies remain stable. Momani urged citizens to avoid panic-buying, emphasizing that market supplies are normal and monitored daily by inspection teams to prevent monopolistic practices.
On the security front, Momani detailed Jordan's successful handling of 255 Iranian missiles, drones, and projectiles. He affirmed the readiness of the Armed Forces and security agencies to counter any threats. Momani condemned the attacks, labeling them unacceptable and shameful for any support extended to Iran amidst its aggression against Jordan.
Momani concluded by urging citizens to rely on official sources for information, reinforcing trust in state institutions, and following official guidelines to support the Kingdom's stability and normalcy.
