Amman: The Jordanian-Hungarian Friendship Association, in cooperation with the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), organized a seminar focused on enhancing Jordanian-Hungarian trade and economic cooperation, featuring the participation of Hungarian Ambassador to Jordan P©ter Jakab and other economic stakeholders.
According to Jordan News Agency, participants explored strategies to expand Jordanian-Hungarian economic, trade, and investment relations while strengthening partnerships across various sectors. ACC Chairman Khalil ElHaj Tawfiq emphasized the importance of building "sustainable" partnerships between the private-sector institutions of both countries. He identified Hungary as a crucial European partner for Jordan, particularly in sectors like food and pharmaceutical industries, technology, renewable energy, modern agriculture, education, and logistics.
ElHaj Tawfiq further highlighted recent improvements in Jordan's investment environment, driven by the Economic Modernization Vision. He noted that Jordan's strategic location and free trade agreements position the Kingdom as a "regional hub" for the re-export and distribution of Hungarian products to regional markets.
Association President Qusai Shaheen remarked on the ongoing advancement of Jordanian-Hungarian relations across multiple sectors. Since its establishment in 2013, the association has focused on strengthening ties between the two countries' business, economic, and cultural institutions. Shaheen encouraged business leaders and investors to leverage the "strong" bilateral ties and explore opportunities in education, tourism, logistics, food industries, information technology, and energy.
Hungarian Ambassador P©ter Jakab reviewed current and future bilateral prospects for economic and trade cooperation, emphasizing the importance of deepening partnerships between public and private sector institutions. He identified "promising" opportunities in sectors such as water management, renewable energy, agriculture, food industries, information and communications technology, medical services, tourism, logistics, and mining.
Jakab also highlighted Hungary's interest in expanding cooperation in transport and logistics with Jordanian entities, including the Jordan Maritime Commission and Aqaba Container Terminal. Additionally, he mentioned the potential for collaboration in technology, education, training, and technical expertise exchange to support joint investments and enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
