Jordan Highlights Mining Investment Opportunities at IMARC 2026

Sydney:The Kingdom of Jordan has actively positioned itself to attract investment and expand international partnerships in its mining sector. This strategic move is focused on mineral exploration, the development of mineral-based industries, and enhancing the economic value of its natural resources, as highlighted by Amani Azzam, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

According to Jordan News Agency, Amani Azzam presented Jordan's investment opportunities and competitive advantages during a session at the International Mining and Resources Conference and Exhibition (IMARC 2026) in Sydney, Australia. This presentation comes in the wake of His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to Australia, emphasizing Jordan's commitment to international cooperation and investment in the mining sector.

Azzam detailed that mining is a priority in Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, which aims for a 10 percent annual growth in the sector's contribution to the gross domestic product by 2033. The National Mining Sector Strategy for 2023-2033 aligns with this vision, focusing on expanding exploration and attracting private-sector investment. Key investment opportunities include minerals such as copper, gold, phosphate, and rare earth elements.

She also reviewed progress on mining projects, noting agreements for copper and gold projects and ongoing studies for phosphate projects. Azzam emphasized developing local industries to process mineral resources, which would enhance domestic production and create jobs.

Furthermore, Azzam highlighted Jordan's commitment to responsible mining practices, legal frameworks supporting investments, and infrastructure development, which include road networks and energy projects. IMARC 2026 serves as a platform for Jordan to showcase these opportunities and foster collaborations with international stakeholders in the mining industry.
