Jordan Gears Up for World Cup Push with 26-Player Roster

Amman: The Jordanian national football team’s head coach, Moroccan tactician Jamal Sellami, has unveiled a 26-player roster ahead of two crucial encounters in the third and final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Jordan is set to face Palestine and South Korea in a campaign-defining window as they push for a historic World Cup berth.

According to Jordan News Agency, the squad selection features a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talents. The roster includes goalkeepers Yazeed Abu Laila, Abdullah Al-Fakhouri, and Mohammed Al-Ammassi. The defenders list comprises Yazan Al-Arab, Abdullah Nasib, Mohammed Abu Al-Nadi, Hossam Abu Thahab, Ihsan Haddad, Yousef Abu Al-Jazar, Adham Al-Quraishi, and Amer Jamous. Midfielders Khaled Zakaria, Mohammed Abu Hashish, Ibrahim Saadeh, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Waseem Reyalat, Mohammed Abu Zureiq, Mahmoud Mardi, Ahmed Assaf, and Muhannad Samreen have also been selected. For the forwards, Jamal Sellami has chosen Muhannad Abu Taha, Mousa Al-Tamari, Ali Alwan, Mohammed Al-Nasser, Ibrahim Sabra, and Yazan Al-Naimat.

The Nashama will commence their training camp on Sunday evening in Amman, fine-tuning their tactical and physical readiness for the decisive fixtures ahead. Jordan will lock horns with Palestine on Thursday, March 20, at 9:15 PM at Amman International Stadium, before traveling directly to South Korea for a high-stakes clash against the Taeguk Warriors on Tuesday, March 25, at 2:00 PM (Jordan time).

As part of their final preparations, Jordan will also play a closed-door friendly against North Korea on Friday, March 14, at 9:15 PM, also at Amman International Stadium. The match will not be broadcast, and attendance will be restricted.

Jordan currently sits third in Group B with 9 points, trailing group leaders South Korea (14 points) and second-placed Iraq (11 points). Oman (6 points), Kuwait (4 points), and Palestine (3 points) complete the table. Under FIFA’s qualification format, the top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will proceed to the fourth round for another shot at qualification.
