Jordan Destroys Large Quantities of Seized Narcotics

Amman: The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) destroyed large quantities of drugs on Tuesday, which had been seized in 18 different cases and for which final judicial rulings had been issued.

According to Jordan News Agency, the destroyed narcotics included 8,102,000 Captagon pills, 1,611.150 kg of hashish, and 75.048 kg of marijuana. These substances were confiscated in cases involving trafficking, possession, and smuggling.

The PSD, through its AND, operates continuously across the kingdom and at border crossings to prevent the entry or transit of drugs within Jordan. This effort is conducted in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Arab Army, other security agencies, and Jordan Customs to combat the drug trade that threatens individuals and society.

The destruction process was supervised by a special committee, chaired by the PSD Assistant Director for Traffic and Foreign Affairs and included the AND Director, the Deputy Director of Laboratories and Criminal Evidence, and the State Security Court Prosecutor.

The narcotics were incinerated in specialized furnaces reaching 1,000 degrees Celsius, ensuring their complete destruction and eliminating their narcotic properties.
