Amman:The Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) has unveiled more than 49 new defense products this year, focusing on advanced technologies such as counter-drone systems, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance Jordan's defense industry and its competitiveness.
According to Jordan News Agency, JODDB spokesperson Mutaz Attein highlighted that the bureau is tailoring integrated systems to meet the operational needs of the Jordan Armed Forces and security agencies. This development comes as a response to evolving regional and international security challenges.
The new products include 10 drone-related systems and 18 AI and cybersecurity products, reflecting JODDB's emphasis on advanced technologies. Notably, the bureau is preparing to launch "Digital Spider," an AI-powered application designed to analyze information from open sources to aid decision-making. Additionally, two AI-based military decision-support applications, "Awn" and "Moeen," are being developed to assist in analyzing battles and supporting operational decisions.
Among JODDB's latest offerings is "Al-Barq," an armored mobile platform equipped for electronic jamming and drone threat detection. The bureau is also advancing an integrated command-and-control system to enhance field capabilities against aerial threats. Other innovations include low-cost attack drones and a mobile drone-carrying platform, supporting reconnaissance and surveillance operations.
Attein emphasized the importance of cooperation with Jordanian universities, aiming to link academic research with defense industry needs. The bureau's collaboration includes research projects with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development and agreements with universities to foster innovation in defense technologies.
JODDB's participation in the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX Jordan) underscores Jordan's role as a stable and reputable partner in the defense sector. This year's event has drawn delegations from over 75 countries, showcasing Jordanian defense products and fostering international partnerships.
Attein also highlighted JODDB's Testing and Evaluation Center, which ensures the reliability of Jordanian defense products through internationally recognized standards, thereby strengthening international confidence.
JODDB, founded in 1999, continues to evolve its strategies to address new technological and security challenges, with plans to announce further cooperation agreements during SOFEX.
