New York:Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi stated that any proposal to resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of Jordan is unacceptable and will be met with firm opposition. He emphasized that Jordan will use all available means to confront such efforts.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi spoke at a press conference after the ministerial meeting of the International Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. He criticized recent statements by Israeli officials about resolving the Palestinian issue at Jordan's expense as indicative of a continued policy of conflict by the Israeli government.
Safadi expressed concerns about the ongoing expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank, highlighting its detrimental effect on the viability of a two-state solution. He specifically pointed out the proposed E1 settlement project, warning that its construction would disrupt territorial continuity in the West Bank, complicating efforts to establish a viable Palestinian state.
He also cited escalating settler violence, land confiscations, and home demolitions as factors leading to the displacement of over 1,400 Palestinians in the West Bank. Safadi urged the international community to take decisive actions to uphold the possibility of a two-state solution, cautioning that inaction could exacerbate and prolong the conflict.
Additionally, Safadi warned against attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, suggesting that such actions might spark a religious war. He cautioned, "Israel may be able to start such a war, but no one will be able to end it."
