Amman: Senate President Faisal Fayez met on Sunday with Australian Ambassador to Jordan Paula Ganly to discuss relations and ways to expand cooperation across various sectors. During the meeting at the Senate headquarters, the two sides also reviewed the latest regional developments and their implications for the security and stability of the region and the wider world.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez emphasized that Jordan will not become a battlefield for any party, underscoring the Kingdom's rejection of any attack that threatens its security and stability or that of Arab states. He cautioned that any expansion of the war in the region would lead to further conflict and chaos, highlighting that Iranian missile and drone attacks on Jordan and other Arab countries are "unacceptable and must be condemned."
Fayez further noted that His Majesty King Abdullah II has consistently stressed the need to halt the war due to its dangerous repercussions for the region and the world. He added that the King has urged the international community to strive for a comprehensive and lasting de-escalation that helps restore stability and achieve peace for all.
Fayez also outlined the challenges confronting Jordan as a result of the conflicts surrounding it, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic and investment partnerships and creating broader prospects for bilateral cooperation between Jordan and Australia.
In response, the Australian ambassador commended the level of Jordanian-Australian relations and stressed the importance of further developing and building on them across various fields in a way that serves the shared interests of both countries and peoples.
