Dead Sea:Jordan has assumed the presidency of the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) Council during the opening of the federation's 35th General Conference at the Dead Sea.
According to Jordan News Agency, Majed Smairat, Chairman of the Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF), succeeded Nassir bin Salim al-Busaidi, the chairman of the Omani Insurance Association, in this role.
Smairat emphasized the necessity for enhanced cooperation and integration among Arab insurance markets, as well as investment in knowledge, skills, legislative development, and product innovation to better manage emerging risks and rapid changes in the industry.
The decision to host the conference in Jordan and the participation from various markets indicate confidence in Jordan's pivotal role within the sector. Smairat also noted that the conference theme, "Insurance: Back to Basics," aims to guide the industry toward a future that remains true to its core professional values while safeguarding policyholders' rights.
JIF CEO Moayad Kloub remarked during the handover ceremony that the new presidency entails a commitment to advancing joint Arab insurance efforts.
The conference's higher organizing committee recognized outgoing GAIF Chief Busaidi for his contributions over the past two years.
