Jordan and Trkiye Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Ties with Joint Statement

Istanbul: Jordan and Trkiye issued a joint statement on Saturday at the conclusion of talks between His Majesty King Abdullah II and Trkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, held in a spirit of cooperation, emphasized the strong historical bonds and distinguished relations between the two countries. The leaders underscored their commitment to advancing bilateral relations, which will be highlighted by the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.

The statement emphasized the importance of enhancing economic cooperation, urging private sectors to explore new avenues of collaboration. The leaders welcomed the outcomes of the first Joint Economic Commission meeting in Amman, emphasizing effective implementation of its decisions.

Both leaders expressed their determination to utilize existing trade and investment agreements and deepen economic and industrial cooperation. They reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination in defense, industry, and security, highlighting shared interests in regional stability.

Addressing regional developments, the leaders expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the need for unimpeded humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts. They reiterated the necessity of a just peace based on the two-state solution, condemning Israel's actions in the West Bank.

The statement expressed support for peace efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump and UN Security Council resolution 2803 (2025). Both leaders rejected occupation, military aggression, and annexation, emphasizing the importance of territorial integrity and sovereignty for regional peace.

They rejected any attempts to alter Jerusalem's status quo, reaffirming the Hashemite Custodianship over holy sites. The leaders emphasized UNRWA's critical role and called for continued support amid Israeli actions against the agency.

Regarding Syria, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the country's sovereignty and unity, calling for agreements' full implementation and combating terrorism. They expressed intentions to engage in transportation collaboration between Trkiye, Jordan, and Syria, emphasizing calm in the region.

King Abdullah II expressed appreciation for Trkiye's hospitality and invited President Erdo?an to visit Jordan.
