Jordan and Saudi Arabia Sign Agreement to Boost Land Transport Cooperation

Amman: Jordanian-Saudi Joint Committee for Land Transport concluded its two-day discussions on Wednesday by signing the meeting minutes, marking a significant step towards enhancing land transport cooperation between the two nations. The documents were signed by Jordan’s Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Fares Abu Diya, and the Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) Deputy for Land Transport, Abdulmajeed Altassan.

According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement outlines plans to facilitate the passage of trucks and buses between the two countries by streamlining customs and administrative procedures. The aim is to bolster cooperation in the land transport sector, which is expected to support joint trade movement and improve land transport operations.

The committee also discussed e-connection mechanisms for the relevant agencies in both countries. This is intended to enhance the efficiency of logistics operations and facilitate data exchange, which in turn is expected to improve the level of services provided to the land transport sector.

Further discussions during the meetings addressed vehicle control techniques and ways to strengthen cooperation to ensure compliance with existing standards in both countries. Procedures for truck drivers were also reviewed to ensure the smooth movement of goods and passengers.

The officials emphasized the importance of maintaining joint coordination and enhancing cooperation across various land transport fields. This initiative aims to keep pace with modern technical and regulatory developments, serving common interests and contributing to the strengthening of bilateral economic and trade relations.
