1st Animal Feed Factory in Mafraq Meets 25% of Local Demand, Says Hneifat

Mafraq: Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, on Wednesday inaugurated the first animal feed plant in the King Hussein Bin Talal Development Area (KHBTDA) in Mafraq governorate. The facility boasts a production capacity of 2,000 tonnes annually, addressing 25% of the local market’s demand.

According to Jordan News Agency, the plant was launched with the support of the Agricultural Investment Incentive Program, as part of the food industries axis of the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture. At the launching ceremony, Hneifat highlighted the ministry’s support for 20 factories across Jordan’s agricultural sub-sectors, aiming to enhance the agricultural sector’s interventions, particularly in food industries. This initiative is anticipated to reduce imports and bolster local product availability.

Hneifat emphasized the added value these projects bring in terms of production inputs, workforce, and local transportation. He mentioned that the ministry has provided comprehensive support to most existing factories, covering infrastructure and operating costs for a five-year period, in collaboration with industrial and development estates and municipalities.

Furthermore, Hneifat discussed the ministry’s backing for four factories hosted in KHBTDA and another in the Sarhan district, underscoring efforts to safeguard products from ministry-supported factories. The ministry’s goal is to broaden investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s agricultural sector by enhancing agri-food industries.

Meanwhile, the management of Pet Petra Company expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts and support for its newly launched factory, which features three production lines capable of producing up to 6 tonnes per day of dry and soft feed and animal sweet products. The company underlined its commitment to selecting ingredients with precision, adhering to the highest international quality standards. They collaborate with veterinary nutrition experts to ensure their products are balanced and meet pets’ needs.
