Amman: The inaugural meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee for the Jordanian-Japanese cooperation project took place at the Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre (RJGC). This significant event marked the collaboration between representatives from the RJGC, the Department of Lands and Survey (DLS), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to establish a unified national geospatial reference system.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Neveen Al Hassan, Senior Advisor to the RJGC Director General, representing Muammar Haddadin. Ahmad Jarrar, the Deputy Director General, represented the DLS on behalf of Director General Khaldoun Al Khaldi, while JICA Jordan Chief Representative Morihata Shingo represented the Japanese side. The session commenced with remarks from the RJGC, DLS, and JICA representatives, followed by technical presentations from project managers Eng. Ali Alimat of the RJGC and Eng. Firas Ja'aroun of the DLS. A Japanese consulting team also contributed with a technical presentation, leading to an open discussion among the participants.
The meeting concluded with a consensus to conduct joint field visits to finalize the location for the new international geospatial reference system station and to test data exchange mechanisms. The participants expressed their continued commitment to addressing the project's technical and implementation aspects.
The participants reaffirmed their dedication to advancing the project. It aims to develop a unified national geospatial reference system through technology transfer, capacity building, and enhanced technical cooperation between Jordan and Japan.
