Jordan and Iraq Discuss Military Cooperation to Combat Terrorism and Drug Smuggling

Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Sunday received an Iraqi military delegation, led by Secretary-General of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense Lt. Gen. Shwan Mazhar Ali. The meeting focused on advancing Jordanian-Iraqi military partnership and enhancing bilateral coordination on key issues of mutual interest, including counterterrorism efforts and measures to combat drug smuggling.

According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions took place at the headquarters of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army, where Huneiti reaffirmed Jordan's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to strengthening ties with Iraq. He highlighted the Kingdom's willingness to provide various forms of support and cooperation to bolster the security and stability of both countries.

The Iraqi delegation expressed gratitude for Jordan's supportive stance toward Iraq, emphasizing the importance of building on the strong mutual relations to serve shared interests. The meeting was attended by several senior JAF officers, along with the Iraqi military attach© in Amman.
