JNCW Releases 2025 Report on Women’s Legislative and Economic Achievements

Amman: The Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) has issued its annual report titled "Jordanian Women's Achievements," marking the second consecutive year of documenting key legislative, policy, and strategic developments for women in 2025. The report highlights significant strides in international indicators, political and economic participation, and empowerment in leadership roles, all aimed at reinforcing and protecting women's rights as enshrined in the Jordanian constitution.

According to Jordan News Agency, the report underscores the importance of Law No. 11 of 2025, which enhances the legislative and institutional framework for women's empowerment and protection. This law facilitates women's active participation in sustainable national development through collaboration with governmental, civil, and societal organizations. Additionally, the approval of the 2026 General Budget Law in November ensured financial allocations for projects under the National Strategy for Women in Jordan, emphasizing gender-responsive budgeting.

The report introduces the updated National Social Protection Strategy for 2025-2033, which targets both men and women, including specific groups such as the elderly, victims of domestic violence, and persons with disabilities. The strategy's pillars-dignity, empowerment, opportunity, and resilience-aim to improve women's social and economic status. Moreover, the National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2025-2028 has been approved, focusing on securing digital spaces and providing guidance for digital protection, especially for women-owned businesses.

The Council of Ministers also approved the Jordan Digital Transformation Strategy for 2026-2028, promoting digital empowerment and inclusive access without discrimination. To boost political participation, several initiatives were launched, such as the "Women Leadership Qualification Programme in the Public Sector" and the "Enhancing Youth and Women's Participation in Political Life" programmes.

In economic participation, the development of standards for institutional support for women in public and private sectors was a collaborative effort, resulting in reduced-interest loans for women and the digital platform "Khairat Al-Dar" for marketing home-based products. The establishment of a multi-purpose agricultural cooperative for female engineers in Irbid Governorate exemplifies efforts to empower women in agriculture.

The report also mentions the conclusion of the "Empowering Women in the Water Sector" programme and the launch of a guide for home-based nurseries to alleviate women's care burdens. In combating violence, the JNCW introduced a legal aid map and an automated system for domestic violence case management.

On international indicators, Jordan improved its rank in the 2025 Global Gender Gap Index and was recognized among the top reform-active economies in the Women, Business and the Law report. Significant appointments in 2025 included the first female head of the Jordanian Dental Association and new female leaders in the Ministry of Interior and the Jordan Food and Drug Administration.
