JHCO’s Role in Humanitarian Aid Efforts to Gaza Commended by Lower House Committee

Amman: The Lower House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee visited the headquarters of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) on Thursday, lauding its significant role in supporting the people of the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Committee Head MP Dina Basheer and committee members emphasized the essential part played by the JHCO in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as to other Arab and friendly countries. JHCO Secretary General, Hussein Sheibli, highlighted that since the onset of the Gaza crisis, the organization has collaborated with the Jordanian Armed Forces and international organizations to conduct substantial relief operations.

Sheibli reported that 53 relief planes have been dispatched to Arish and Rafah, including 13 sent directly by the JHCO and 40 in cooperation with international organizations. The JHCO has also undertaken 139 airdrops, consisting of 125 Jordanian operations, alongside 266 conducted in partnership with Arab and friendly countries.

On land aid, Shebli detailed that 7,737 aid trucks have been sent to Gaza via a land bridge. Of these, 3,875 trucks were dispatched in collaboration with the JAF, while 3,862 were sent with the help of international organizations. Following the truce, 2,638 trucks have been sent in 36 relief convoys, and the aid included 62,324 tents, 147,338 tarpaulins, and 30 caravans for displaced families in Gaza.

Sheibli also mentioned that 1,364,684 individuals have benefited from the aid inside Gaza, along with support provided to 401 amputees through a prosthetic limb initiative. Additionally, 102 aircraft carrying medical, food, and health supplies, totaling 105,517 tonnes, have been sent. To ensure continued humanitarian assistance, 148 agreements have been signed.

The commission reiterated its “continued commitment” to its humanitarian mission under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, working with various partners to ensure the delivery of aid to needy groups in Gaza and other Arab and friendly countries.
