Amman: The Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced that the total number of its insured persons has stood at 1,584,000 individuals, while the number of active female subscribers has reached 462,882, including 35,594 voluntary ones.
According to Jordan News Agency, in a statement on Thursday on the occasion of Mother’s Day, which falls on Friday, the corporation noted the number of the SSC-insured persons, who are now receiving retirement salaries, has reached 58,032 active retirees. The corporation noted the number of the SSC-insured women, who have cumulatively benefited from maternity insurance since its implementation, has reached 80,276, with overall benefits amounting to approximately JD128.332 million.
The corporation said the Social Security Law has enhanced social protection for women in the private sector by expanding eligibility criteria for maternity leave benefits. The SSC added that this process also provides “greater” social protection for daughters or sisters, whether divorced or widowed, by granting these groups a share of their deceased father’s or brother’s salary.
On other women-oriented services, the corporation indicated that the number of SSC-insured females, who have benefited from unemployment insurance since its implementation, has cumulatively reached 339,393, with overall benefits amounting to approximately JD310 million, with disbursements exceeding the number of 1,164,000.
The corporation renewed its call to working women to inquire about their right to receive social security in the labor market and ensure their coverage under the Kingdom’s social security umbrella, based on their “actual wages and full periods of employment.”
