JEDCO head, EU envoy talk economic cooperation, projects

Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) CEO Abdel Fattah Kayed, on Wednesday discussed with European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Maria Hadjitheodosiou, ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides.

Speaking at the meeting, Kayed presented JEDCO’s work programs aimed to serving Jordan’s various economic sectors, highlighting the importance of cooperation with EU, especially in the entrepreneurial projects sector and support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He noted JEDCO is working to achieve vision of Public Sector Modernization Committee to become an official umbrella for sponsoring and supporting entrepreneurial SMEs.

He also said JEDCO’s strategy for the next three years aims to provide financial and technical support to SMEs, in addition to spurring establishment of economic projects for women and youth, especially in the Kingdom’s provinces.

For her part, Hadjitheodosiou lauded JEDCO’s role in supporting Jordan’s SMEs to enable them to grow and develop to serve the Kingdom’s economy.

EU, she said, supports Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision that culminates political reform efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Jordanian government, adding that Jordan has “great” potentials to attract investments that contribute positively to economic growth rates and export development.
