Israeli Army’s Impact on Palestinian Women in Gaza Revealed by Euro-Med Monitor

Gaza: The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has reported a grim statistic regarding the conflict in the Gaza Strip, stating that the Israeli army has been responsible for the deaths of an average of 21.3 Palestinian women per day due to direct bombardments since October 2023. This frequency translates to the death of approximately one Palestinian woman every hour. These figures, however, do not account for the women who have succumbed to siege-related causes such as starvation and inadequate medical care, which remain undocumented.

According to Jordan News Agency, the monitor’s report described these incidents as unprecedented and alarming, highlighting a systematic pattern of mass killings that seem to deliberately target Palestinian women, with a particular focus on mothers. The report indicates that these killings occur in various locations, including homes, displacement tents, and temporary shelters, and even affect women attempting to flee bombings with their children.

Furthermore, the statement from the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor emphasized that the targeting of women by Israeli forces extends beyond lethal attacks. Data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health reveals that approximately 60,000 pregnant women in Gaza are experiencing severe conditions due to malnutrition, hunger, and the near-total collapse of the healthcare system. This situation has been worsened by a strict blockade and the closure of access to aid and goods since early March.
