Irbid: Irbid Governor Radwan Atoum has formed a specialized committee to inspect Wadi Al-Ghafar following escalating environmental and health concerns caused by wastewater tankers dumping their loads into main sewer lines and manholes in the area.
According to Jordan News Agency, Atoum stated that the joint committee recommended urgent measures to mitigate the environmental and health risks posed by the illegal dumping. The committee is composed of Assistant Governor Ghaith Obeidat, representatives from the Irbid Environmental Protection Directorate, the Royal Department for Environment Protection (Rangers), and Yarmouk Water Company.
In response to the situation, Atoum has ordered the deployment of a security patrol near the valley, with increased monitoring by environmental protection authorities and Yarmouk Water Company. Authorities are set to take legal action against violators, referring offenders to the administrative governor.
