Irbid exports stand at $1.1 billion in 1st 9 months of 2022-ICI

The total value of certificates of origin issued by Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) during the first nine months of 2022 amounted to $1.1 billion, compared to $881mln for the same period last year, marking a 22% increase.

Al-Hassan Industrial City recorded exports worth $1 billion, while Cyber City and other areas in the governorate exported commodities worth $60.4 million.

According to a ICI statement issued on Sunday, a value of $49 million was exported under agreements with Arab countries.

Leather and textile industries ranked top position in the volume of the governorate’s exports with a value of $994 million, followed by therapeutic industries and medical supplies at $25mln, then food materials at $23mln, while other exports covered chemical, plastic, packaging, construction and mining industries.

The US market was the the top importer with a value of $795 million, followed by European Union countries at $77mln. Meanwhile, other exports went to Arab markets, Canada, Southeast Asia and other countries around the world, the statement said.

In an interview with “Petra,” Head of ICI Committee, Hossam Waqfi, said growth in the governorate’s exports is due to improvement in global demand for national industries after Covid-19 pandemic’s repercussions have receded and resumption of operations with full production capacity.
